Resources-Web pages

A handful of the web pages I love for family history

Clare Library -reliable, excellent and free information for family historians with a County Clare background: Be sure to look at the following different links from the home page: History, Genealogy, and Places.

Clare Roots Society

Australian Cemeteries Index for photos of graves, and transcriptions around Australia but especially NSW & Queensland.

Queensland BDM online. It took a while but they’re online, images can be purchased, and you can use wildcards.

South-east Queensland cemeteries headstones has photos of gravestones in cemeteries in South-East Queensland. There are different ones here from Australian Cemeteries Index so do try both.

Drayton & Toowoomba Cemetery grave search one of the very earliest cemetery-search facilities-true trailblazers

Brisbane City Council Grave Search lets you search cemeteries run by Brisbane City Council.

PROV immigration I use their unassisted inwards passenger lists and outward passenger lists to compare with those from New South Wales.

State Library of Queensland (SLQ), including John Oxley reference library.

Queensland Places

Text Queensland, a collaboration between The University of Queensland and SLQ for books, theses, gazettes etc.

Toowoomba & Darling Downs Family History Society an excellent society -well worth joining if you have ancestry on the Downs

Forest of Dean Family History This website offers transcriptions of parish registers which volunteers have been adding progressively for some years. It has broadened its base beyond the immediate Forest of Dean parishes. With Partridge ancestors in Coleford, in the middle of the Forest of Dean, I have found this a very useful site. The site depends on voluntary subscriptions so if you have ancestors in this area the website will certainly appreciate your support.

Sydney Archives: Newtown Project This site has great pages on Sands Directories and Rate and Assessment Books for Newtown.
