Last night while trawling Trove for some further stories on the Henny family of Dungog for my other blog I came across this amusing story.
It gave me a good chuckle as I imagined the event, and hope it raises a laugh for you also. A Dungog version of the Melbourne Cup perhaps.
Remember the cartoon Radish the Racehorse, who tried every year to get to Melbourne for the Cup but never quite made it?

Greta story. I somehow missed this post. I had ancestors in Dungog too! My Tierneys were there from 1839-1930s. Dennis and John were carpenters/builders and part-time undertakers.

Isn’t it strange when you realise people you’re researching probably knew each other.
